Key takeaways
- The Purified Ruins are in eastern Liurnia, on the raised ground south-west of the Liurnia Highway North area and north of the Lake-Facing Cliffs approach.
- Their most important permanent reward is the Two Fingers Heirloom, found in a hidden cellar beneath the main ruin.
- The same cellar contains a Shabriri Grape, which can be given to Hyetta when she reaches her second Liurnia location.
- A Sending Gate in the rear part of the ruins teleports the player to the entrance of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, but the Academy’s required key is still needed to proceed normally.
- There is no boss and no Site of Grace at the ruins The nearby Liurnia Highway North or Lake-Facing Cliffs Sites of Grace are the practical bases for repeated visits.
- Hyetta’s presence depends on earlier quest progress If she is not at the ruins, check whether her previous encounter at Lake-Facing Cliffs has been completed.
About this guide
Base game location guide Region: Liurnia of the Lakes Subregion: Eastern Liurnia Type: Ruin settlement and minor point of interest Main functions: Hyetta’s quest, Shabriri Grape, Two Fingers Heirloom, Raya Lucaria sending gate Boss: None Site of Grace: None within the ruins Major spoiler warning: This location is connected to Hyetta’s quest and the Lord of Frenzied Flame route.
Overview
The Purified Ruins are a small but unusually useful ruin complex in eastern Liurnia of the Lakes. Although the site contains no boss, dungeon entrance or Site of Grace, it combines several important pieces of early and mid-game exploration: a concealed cellar, the Two Fingers Heirloom talisman, a Shabriri Grape needed for Hyetta’s quest, a Sending Gate leading to the main gate of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, and a short encounter with Raya Lucaria soldiers and a Cuckoo Knight.
The name refers to the ruin complex itself. Lightseeker Hyetta, however, is normally found just outside the ruin buildings, on the western side near the lakeshore. She is associated with the location for quest purposes, but her standing place should not be confused with the separate internal chambers and rear section of the ruins.
Location and boundaries
The Purified Ruins occupy a compact patch of raised ground in eastern Liurnia of the Lakes. The site is close to the road running through the eastern part of the region, but it is not the same place as:
The ruin’s practical boundary is the cluster of broken stone buildings, the open central fighting area, the smaller rear structure containing the Sending Gate, and the concealed cellar beneath the main ruin. Hyetta’s position west of the buildings is best treated as an associated exterior encounter rather than a separate subarea. Guides consistently describe her as standing by or beside the ruins, while the collectible cellar is inside the occupied ruin complex.
Named locations within or directly associated with the site
Reaching the ruins
From Lake-Facing Cliffs
This is the most natural approach if following Hyetta’s quest.
The exact approach is more forgiving on foot than it first appears. The ruins sit above the surrounding water, and their broken walls are visible from the nearby slopes.
From Liurnia Highway North
This route is useful when exploring the eastern road.
The Purified Ruins are close enough to the highway that they can be cleared as a short detour rather than as a dedicated expedition. Game8 places them on the south-eastern plateau of Liurnia and recommends approaching from the Liurnia Highway South area, although route descriptions vary depending on which nearby grace the player uses.
From Lake-Facing Cliffs
- 01Begin at the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace.
- 02Travel north-east or north along the raised ground rather than descending into the flooded lake.
- 03Look for the ruin complex near the edge of the lake.
- 04Hyetta’s position is on the western side of the complex, while the main group of enemies and the cellar are further inside.
From Liurnia Highway North
- 01Start at Liurnia Highway North.
- 02Leave the road and climb the nearby slope towards the ruin buildings.
- 03Approach from the outer side first, where the dog and sentry can be dealt with before entering the occupied section.
- 04Circle around the walls if necessary to reach the rear structure and Sending Gate.
Layout and subareas
Western exterior
The western exterior is the area most closely associated with Lightseeker Hyetta. She stands near the ruined structures rather than inside the most heavily occupied chamber. This makes it possible to speak with her before clearing the soldiers.
If Hyetta is present, exhaust her dialogue and give her a Shabriri Grape. She rewards this stage of the quest with the As You Wish gesture if the relevant earlier interaction has been completed. The gesture is associated with the first stage of her Liurnia sequence, while the Purified Ruins meeting advances the quest after the player has already encountered her at Lake-Facing Cliffs.
Main ruin
The main ruin contains the bulk of the hostile occupants. The enemies are generally positioned around the entrance and central interior, with some soldiers either sleeping or standing guard.
The roofless and broken architecture provides several ways to engage:
The site is small enough that a direct assault is possible, but stealth makes the cellar search safer.
Concealed cellar
The cellar is hidden beneath wooden boards or floor coverings inside the main ruin. Clear the nearby enemies, then search the central floor carefully. Break the boards by attacking or rolling into them to reveal the stairs.
The grape is fixed loot, not a random drop. The talisman is also fixed and does not depend on defeating a particular enemy.
Rear ruin and Sending Gate
The smaller rear section is less heavily guarded and contains a Sending Gate. Activating it transports the player to the gate area outside the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
This is a shortcut and travel device, not a replacement for the Academy’s access requirements. The player still needs the appropriate Academy key to enter the Academy through its main magical barrier. The gate is therefore useful for positioning and exploration, but it does not bypass the key requirement.
Residents and enemies
Lightseeker Hyetta
Hyetta is the only named character directly associated with the Purified Ruins. Her questline concerns the Shabriri Grapes, the Three Fingers and, ultimately, the Lord of Frenzied Flame path.
At the ruins, she asks for another Shabriri Grape. After the interaction is completed and her dialogue is exhausted, she later moves to the Gate Town Bridge area. Her subsequent stops include Bellum Church and, much later, the Frenzied Flame Proscription beneath Leyndell.
Hyetta checklist
If she is absent, do not assume the quest is broken. Check Lake-Facing Cliffs first, confirm that the earlier dialogue was completed, and verify that she has not already moved to Gate Town Bridge. Progression can also be affected by the order in which the player handles Irina, Edgar and the other grape sources.
Ordinary enemies
The verified ordinary enemies associated with the site are:
The foot soldiers are the most numerous opponents. The Cuckoo Knight is the more dangerous individual enemy, particularly for characters who arrive soon after entering Liurnia. The dog can rush the player during the initial approach and is worth eliminating before fighting inside the ruin. The area has no named invader and no boss encounter listed for the location.
Items and collectibles
Fixed rewards
The Two Fingers Heirloom is the most substantial permanent item reward. It raises Faith, making it particularly relevant to early incantation builds and to players experimenting with Faith requirements. The Shabriri Grape is more important for quest progression than for combat or crafting.
The available item listings identify the grape and talisman as the cellar’s principal rewards, with Golden Rune [3], Cuckoo Glintstone and several common crafting materials distributed around the ruin and its surroundings.
Practical acquisition route
This order prevents the player from leaving after the quest conversation and forgetting that the grape is inside the same location.
Fixed rewards
| Item | Location | Use or significance |
|---|---|---|
| Shabriri Grape | Purified Ruins cellar, on a corpse | Quest item for Hyetta |
| Two Fingers Heirloom | Chest in the cellar | Talisman that raises Faith |

| Cuckoo Glintstone | Ruin loot | Consumable combat item |
| Erdleaf Flower | Exterior or nearby ground | Crafting material |
| Mushroom | Ruin surroundings | Crafting material |
| Rowa Fruit | Nearby vegetation | Crafting material |
Practical acquisition route
- 01Speak to Hyetta first if she is present.
- 02Enter the main ruin from the safer outer side.
- 03Kill or bypass the dog.
- 04Remove the nearest foot soldier.
- 05Clear the central room, taking care around the Cuckoo Knight.

- 09Search the remaining ruin walls and exterior for the minor loot.
- 10Visit the rear section and activate the Sending Gate.
Hyetta’s quest and progression changes
The Purified Ruins are not permanently changed by a major story phase in the way that Leyndell or certain late-game locations are. Their importance comes from NPC progression rather than a dramatic world-state transformation.
She requires several grapes during this sequence. The ordinary Shabriri Grapes come from separate locations, while the Fingerprint Grape is connected to Festering Fingerprint Vyke near the Church of Inhibition. The later questline becomes associated with the Three Fingers and the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending route.
Hyetta’s route is broadly
- 01Lake-Facing Cliffs
- 02Purified Ruins
- 03Gate Town Bridge
- 04Bellum Church
- 05Frenzied Flame Proscription
Nearby connections
The ruins form a useful eastern Liurnia loop:
The Sending Gate makes the ruins more than a dead-end side location. It provides an alternative way to reach the Academy entrance region, although the Academy’s key requirement still applies.

Common questions
Is there a boss in the Purified Ruins?
No. The site has ordinary soldiers, a Cuckoo Knight and a dog, but no named boss or field boss is associated with the ruins.
Where is the Shabriri Grape?
It is in the concealed cellar beneath the main ruin. Break the boards on the floor to reveal the stairs.
Where is Hyetta?
She stands outside the western side of the ruins when this stage of her quest is active. She is not normally inside the cellar or the main occupied chamber.
What does the Sending Gate do?
It transports the player to the main gate area of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. It does not remove the need for the Academy’s required key.
Is the Two Fingers Heirloom worth collecting?
Yes, especially for Faith-focused characters. It is also one of the site’s two major fixed rewards and is independent of the Hyetta quest.
Can the ruins be cleared before meeting Hyetta?
Yes. Clearing the enemies and looting the cellar does not by itself prevent the Hyetta encounter. The important issue is her quest state and whether she has already moved on.
