About this guide

Base-game location guide Scope: Tombsward Cave itself, including its internal rooms, entrance grace, boss arena and cave loot. Nearby places such as Tombsward Catacombs, Tombsward Ruins and the Fourth Church of Marika are treated as connections rather than parts of the cave.

Overview

Tombsward Cave is an optional cave dungeon in the western Weeping Peninsula, the southern sub-region of Limgrave. Its entrance lies just south-east of the Fourth Church of Marika, near the open field where a Walking Mausoleum roams. The cave is easy to overlook because the entrance is tucked into a wooded rock face rather than placed beside a prominent ruin or road.

Inside, the dungeon becomes a damp, poison-filled cavern inhabited by rats, Miranda flowers and Servants of Rot. The route is short, but its layout encourages players to miss the northern loot branch before dropping into the lower chamber. The final room contains Miranda the Blighted Bloom, whose defeat rewards the Viridian Amber Medallion.

Tombsward Cave is not part of Tombsward Catacombs, despite the similar names. The two are separate dungeons with different entrances, bosses, enemies and rewards. Tombsward Cave is a poison cave with Miranda the Blighted Bloom, while Tombsward Catacombs is a catacomb dungeon whose boss is the Cemetery Shade.

Location and boundaries

Tombsward Cave occupies a small underground dungeon beneath the wooded ground south-east of the Fourth Church of Marika. The cave’s scope begins at its lit entrance and includes the initial grace chamber, the poison-filled upper cavern, the northern loot passage, the lower pool chamber and the southern boss route.

It does not include the surface area around the cave, the Fourth Church of Marika, Tombsward Ruins, Tombsward Catacombs, the Weeping Evergaol or the nearby Walking Mausoleum. These are separate locations in the Weeping Peninsula. The regional directory lists Tombsward Cave, Tombsward Catacombs and the other dungeons as distinct entries.

Canonical places within the cave

The cave has no named resident, shop, quest hub, dungeon sub-zone or separate internal named area documented in the base game. Its rooms are best understood as parts of one compact dungeon rather than independent subareas.

Reaching Tombsward Cave

From the Fourth Church of Marika

The Fourth Church of Marika is the simplest landmark from which to navigate.

The cave is close to the church, but the entrance can be hidden by trees and uneven ground. If you reach Tombsward Catacombs or the larger surface ruins, you have left the immediate approach to the correct entrance. The cave’s position south-east of the Fourth Church and near the Walking Mausoleum is confirmed by multiple location guides.

Other useful approach points

There is no locked door, Stonesword Key barrier or quest condition at the cave entrance.

From the Fourth Church of Marika

Internal layout

Tombsward Cave is compact but has a deliberate branching route.

Entrance chamber

The first chamber contains the Site of Grace. The Summoning Pool is close to the route deeper into the cave, making this a convenient location for cooperative play. The entrance section is comparatively safe and gives you a chance to prepare a torch, lantern, boluses or other poison countermeasures.

Upper poison chamber

The main chamber contains shallow poison-covered ground, rats and hostile plant life. The poison is more dangerous because it is combined with enemy pressure and limited visibility than because it inflicts overwhelming damage on its own.

A Golden Rune [2] and a Furlcalling Finger Remedy can be collected in this early section. The remedy is particularly useful if you intend to summon help from the nearby pool.

Northern branch

The northern route leads away from the most direct boss path. It contains rats and fixed loot, including:

This is the branch most likely to be skipped by players who follow the cave’s lower route immediately. Search the side passage before dropping into the lower section. The cookbook is a permanent pickup, not a random enemy drop.

Lower pool chamber

After following the branching route and dropping down, you reach a lower chamber with more poisonous ground, Miranda flowers and hostile mushroom-clad enemies. An Arteria Leaf can be collected from a ledge, while six Poisonbone Darts are found near the pool. The darts are fixed dungeon loot rather than a guaranteed drop from an enemy.

From this chamber, the southern passage leads to the boss arena.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Activate the Site of Grace. This gives you a nearby respawn point and removes the need to repeat the approach from the surface.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Activate the Summoning Pool. Do this before entering the poison chambers if you want to summon another player.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Proceed into the first large chamber. Pick up the Golden Rune [2] and Furlcalling Finger Remedy. Be prepared for rats and poison-covered ground.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Take the northern branch first. Follow the passage before dropping into the lower chamber. Collect the Immunizing White Cured Meat and Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook [8].

Recommended route

  1. 01
Return to the branching chamber and drop down. Move carefully through the lower section. Watch for Miranda flowers and the hostile Servants of Rot.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Collect the Arteria Leaf. It is positioned on a ledge in the lower area. Avoid standing unnecessarily in poison while picking it up.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Collect the six Poisonbone Darts. They are near the lower pool. Clear or distract nearby enemies first if necessary.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Enter the southern boss passage. The route ends at Miranda the Blighted Bloom’s arena.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Defeat Miranda the Blighted Bloom. The boss drops the Viridian Amber Medallion.

Recommended route

  1. 01
Return to the Site of Grace if needed. The cave has no second grace or shortcut because of its small size.

Enemies

The cave’s enemy population is built around poison, ambushes and cramped movement.

Ordinary enemies

Enemy lists vary slightly between community databases, particularly over how the mushroom-clad spellcasters are labelled. Walkthroughs commonly call these enemies Servants of Rot, while some databases use broader or inconsistent fungal terminology. The practical distinction is that they are ranged poison attackers who should be dealt with quickly.

Combat priorities

The casters can pressure you while you are standing in poison, and the flowers can make the lower chamber difficult to cross. Use the cave walls and dry ground as cover where possible. A shield is useful against rats, but it does not solve the poison problem, so avoid blocking indefinitely in contaminated areas.

Combat priorities: The safest order is generally

  1. 01
    Ranged poison casters
  2. 02
    Miranda flowers and sprouts
  3. 03
    Giant Rat
  4. 04
    Ordinary rats
  5. 05
    Remaining slimes

Boss: Miranda the Blighted Bloom

Miranda the Blighted Bloom is a large Miranda flower in the final chamber. Several poisonous flowers or sprouts accompany the boss, creating additional pressure during the fight. Guides recommend clearing the smaller flowers first if they are disrupting your movement, then focusing on Miranda.

Reward

The talisman raises maximum stamina. It is a useful early-game reward for characters who rely on repeated attacks, shields, charged attacks, jumping attacks or heavy equipment. The reward is fixed and does not depend on the player’s build or difficulty setting.

Items and collectibles

Fixed loot

These items are separate from crafting materials and enemy drops. The cave also contains cave moss, poisonbloom and other environmental materials according to location databases, but material availability can be affected by collection and later respawn behaviour.

Crafting and material directory

The cookbook teaches recipes associated with poison-related crafting. Pick it up before leaving if you are collecting every cookbook in the base game.

Checkpoints and multiplayer

Tombsward Cave Site of Grace

The Site of Grace is immediately inside the entrance. It functions as the cave’s only checkpoint and provides the usual resting, levelling and fast-travel functions.

Tombsward Cave Summoning Pool

The Summoning Pool is near the entrance and can be activated before proceeding through the dungeon. It is the relevant multiplayer facility for the cave and is separate from summoning pools at Tombsward Catacombs, Witchbane Ruins and other nearby locations.

A Furlcalling Finger Remedy is available inside the first major chamber, so a player who has not brought one may be able to collect it before attempting cooperation.

Hazards and preparation

Poison

Poison is the cave’s central hazard. It comes from contaminated ground, Miranda enemies and the Servants of Rot. Poison resistance does not make the dungeon harmless, but it gives you more time to cross the pools and defeat enemies before the status effect activates.

The Immunizing White Cured Meat found inside the cave can be used during the dungeon, but it may be wiser to save it for a longer poison exposure or use Neutralising Boluses if you have them.

Visibility

The cave is dark, though the poison pools and enemy projectiles can make its route easier to read than some other caves. A torch or lantern remains useful, especially when checking the northern branch and ledges for loot.

Narrow spaces

The rats are not individually formidable, but they can interrupt attacks and push you into poison. Avoid fighting several enemies while standing on contaminated ground. Pull enemies back towards dry passages whenever possible.

Nearby connections

These places are close to Tombsward Cave but are not part of its interior.

The regional location directory distinguishes Tombsward Cave from Tombsward Catacombs and lists both separately among the Weeping Peninsula’s dungeons.

Fourth Church of Marika

This is the best surface landmark for finding the cave. It also contains a Sacred Tear, making it a useful stop before exploring the nearby dungeons. The church itself is not included in the Tombsward Cave area.

Tombsward Catacombs

Do not confuse this dungeon with Tombsward Cave. Tombsward Catacombs contains the Cemetery Shade and a separate set of catacomb corridors. Its similar name reflects the shared Tombsward locality, not a connected dungeon layout.

Witchbane Ruins

Witchbane Ruins lies elsewhere in the western Weeping Peninsula and is associated with Sorceress Sellen. It is not a branch of Tombsward Cave and has its own encounters and items.

Lore and environmental reading

Tombsward Cave has no extensive item-description narrative or dedicated NPC storyline. Its environmental identity comes from the combination of poison, fungal or rot-associated enemies and Miranda flowers. Miranda flowers appear throughout the Lands Between in several forms, including the blighted variety represented by Miranda the Blighted Bloom.

The cave’s enemy composition links it thematically with other damp or contaminated locations, but the game does not establish that Tombsward Cave is a major source of the wider Scarlet Rot phenomenon. Poison and rot-related imagery overlap visually, yet they remain distinct status effects and motifs in the game. Any stronger claim about the cave’s origin or relationship to Caelid would be interpretation rather than confirmed lore.
