Key takeaways

  • Zamor Ruins is in the western Mountaintops of the Giants, south of the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace.
  • The area has no named boss and no fog-gate boss fight in the base game.
  • The two main rewards are Zamor Ice Storm and Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].
  • The ruins are defended chiefly by Zamor Knights, who use fast curved-sword attacks, freezing techniques and frost-inducing wind.
  • Shabriri may appear at the Site of Grace, but only as part of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s questline and its progression.
  • The nearby Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave and the broader Mountaintops route are separate locations, not subareas of Zamor Ruins.

About this guide

Major spoilers: This guide discusses late-game progression, Shabriri, Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s quest, the Zamor people, and the ruins’ hidden rewards.

Overview

This guide covers the Zamor Ruins location in the Elden Ring base game. It does not include the separate Zamor-related encounters in other dungeons, the Zamor ruins that appear in Elden Ring: Nightreign, or the wider Mountaintops of the Giants region.

Introduction

Zamor Ruins is a small but dangerous open-world ruin in the western Mountaintops of the Giants. It lies immediately south of the Site of Grace with the same name, close to the route from the Grand Lift of Rold towards the frozen northern mountains.

The location is not a conventional dungeon with a boss arena. Instead, it is a spread of ruined stone structures, courtyards, broken walls and underground chambers occupied by several Zamor Knights. Its principal rewards are the Zamor Ice Storm sorcery and the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3]. The latter is the more practically important reward, as it expands the Twin Maiden Husks’ stock of regular smithing stones after you hand it over at Roundtable Hold.

The ruins are also significant for their connection to the ancient Zamor warriors. These people fought the Fire Giants and participated in the War Against the Giants, but their settlement was eventually destroyed. The hostile knights found here are therefore not ordinary soldiers defending a current lord. They are remnants of an ancient warrior culture, still using the cold sorceries for which Zamor is known.

Nearby but separate

The Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave is especially easy to confuse with Zamor Ruins because it is close by and contains Zamor-related material. It is not an underground extension of the ruins, however. Treat it as a separate location with its own entrance, traps, enemies and reward structure.

Main route

The site is relatively close to the lift, but the connecting road is exposed and can contain dangerous mounted and flying enemies. If you are travelling there for the first time, prioritise reaching the Grace rather than trying to clear every enemy along the approach.

Main route: steps

  1. 01
    Progress through Leyndell, Royal Capital.
  2. 02
    Defeat Morgott, the Omen King.
  3. 03
Speak with Melina at the Site of Grace after the battle.
  4. 04
    Receive the Rold Medallion.
  5. 05
Use the Grand Lift of Rold to enter the Mountaintops of the Giants.
  6. 06
    Follow the main road north-west.
  7. 07
Activate the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace.
  8. 08
Turn south from the Grace and enter the ruined settlement.

Suggested first-visit route

This order prioritises the two unique rewards and reduces the chance of losing a large number of runes while repeatedly crossing the central ruin.

---

Zamor Ruins is not divided into formally named interior rooms. Its practical layout can nevertheless be understood as four sections.

A safe and efficient exploration order is

  1. 01
    Activate the Site of Grace.
  2. 02
Walk south into the ruins and observe the patrol routes.
  3. 03
Clear the nearest Zamor Knights one at a time.
  4. 04
Search the south-western structures for the Zamor Ice Storm.
  5. 05
Return towards the western edge and locate the drop-down route into the cellar.
  6. 06
Open the chest containing Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].
  7. 07
Search the remaining courtyards for ordinary pickups and crafting materials.
  8. 08
Return to the Grace before attempting a second full clear.

Northern approach

The northern approach begins at the Site of Grace and slopes down towards the ruined settlement. It is the least enclosed part of the area and gives a useful view of the broken buildings to the south.

This is also the best place to reset the area between fights. Zamor Knights have enough range and mobility to punish players who accidentally draw several enemies together, so retreating uphill to the Grace is often safer than attempting to fight in the centre.

Central ruin

The central section contains the largest concentration of ruined walls and open lanes. The masonry provides partial cover but does not completely protect against the Zamor Knights’ freezing attacks.

The central area is dangerous because enemies can be hidden behind walls or positioned at different elevations. Move slowly, listen for movement and avoid sprinting directly through the ruins unless you have already collected the main rewards.

South-western section

The Zamor Ice Storm sorcery is found in the south-western part of the ruins, near a stone archway or doorway. It is a fixed pickup rather than a random drop.

The surrounding architecture can make the pickup easy to overlook, especially in poor visibility or during a hurried run. If you are collecting only the important items, this is the first section to search after entering from the Grace.

Western cellar

The Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3] is in a chest inside an underground cellar. The cellar entrance is reached from the western or south-western side of the ruin, with the opening partly concealed by the broken terrain. One practical way to find it is to look down from the western edge and identify the lower section of the ruins.

The cellar is not a separate named dungeon and has no boss encounter. Its importance comes entirely from the Bell Bearing chest.

Zamor Knights

The Zamor Knights are the defining inhabitants of the ruins. They are tall, lightly built warriors with long pale hair, ornate masks and frost-based combat techniques. Their weapons and attacks are closely associated with the cold traditions of Zamor.

They are not presented as members of a contemporary army such as Leyndell’s forces or the Fire Monks. The ruins instead suggest a surviving or lingering population of ancient warriors. Their hostility may be read as territorial defence, cultural isolation or the continued aftermath of their old conflict with the Fire Giants.

Zamor Knights combine quick physical attacks with area-of-effect frost abilities. Their attacks can inflict Frostbite, making them disproportionately dangerous to characters with low robustness or weak resistance to status buildup.

Practical combat advice

The Zamor Knights are ordinary enemies in this location, not a boss or unique named encounter. Their equipment should not be confused with the Zamor armour set or Zamor Curved Sword obtained elsewhere.

Shabriri

Shabriri can appear at the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace as part of the later stages of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s questline. He is not a permanent resident of the ruins and does not appear simply because the player reaches the location.

Shabriri’s presence depends on quest progression. He occupies the body of Yura and provides the next stage of Yura’s story, including information connected with the Frenzied Flame. If he is present, speak with him at the Grace and exhaust his dialogue before leaving.

After the relevant dialogue, Shabriri can be fought at the same location. Defeating him rewards the Ronin’s Set, subject to the state of Yura’s questline. If Shabriri is killed before the expected encounter, the set can be obtained from his body at the site. This is a quest-related acquisition, not a standard Zamor Ruins treasure.

Story-related directory

There is no ordinary merchant, blacksmith, travelling trader or other service NPC stationed at the ruins.

---

Main enemy directory

The ruins also lie in open Mountaintops terrain where wildlife and flying creatures may be encountered nearby, but these should not automatically be treated as part of the enclosed Zamor Ruins encounter group. Enemy placements can also vary in practical relevance depending on the route taken and whether nearby terrain is pulled into combat.

Frostbite

The principal hazard is Frostbite buildup. Frostbite deals a burst of damage when triggered and temporarily increases the damage the affected character receives. The Zamor Knights can apply it through both weapon attacks and cold techniques.

The ruins are also dangerous because the enemies are spread through cramped lanes rather than placed in a single obvious arena. The safest approach is controlled pulling, not speed-running.

---

Unique and major rewards

The two Sliver of Meat placements are ordinary fixed pickups rather than random enemy drops. Some location summaries also list general crafting materials such as Arteria Leaf, Fire Blossom, Nascent Butterfly and Rimed Rowa in the broader ruin area. These materials are less important than the Bell Bearing and sorcery, but they are worth collecting if you are completing the region carefully.

Zamor Ice Storm

Zamor Ice Storm is a sorcery that creates a freezing storm around the caster. It is one of the clearest examples of the Zamor combat style and is thematically tied to the warriors found in the ruins.

The spell is fixed in place and does not require a boss fight.

To collect it

  1. 01
Start at the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace.
  2. 02
Travel south into the ruin complex.
  3. 03
    Keep towards the south-western buildings.
  4. 04
Look near the stone archway or doorway for the corpse carrying the spell.
  5. 05
Pick it up after dealing with, or bypassing, the nearby Zamor Knights.

Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3]

This Bell Bearing is the most useful practical reward in the location.

Once offered to the Twin Maiden Husks, it expands the shop’s regular smithing-stone stock. It does not provide unlimited access to every upgrade material, and it should not be confused with a Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing, which governs special weapon upgrades.

---

To collect it

  1. 01
From the Site of Grace, enter the ruins.
  2. 02
Move towards the western side of the complex.
  3. 03
Look for the lower cellar entrance beneath the broken masonry.
  4. 04
Drop down or follow the visible route into the underground chamber.
  5. 05
    Open the chest.
  6. 06
Take the Bell Bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Activate Zamor Ruins Site of Grace. This gives you a nearby respawn point and a safe place to manage equipment.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Enter the ruins from the south-facing slope. Avoid sprinting through the first courtyard. The nearest Zamor Knight can often be isolated.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Clear the south-western structures. Search by the stone archway or doorway to find Zamor Ice Storm.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Return to the western side. Use the broken walls as cover and look for the cellar entrance below the ruins.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Open the cellar chest. Collect Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].

Short completion route

  1. 01
Search for the minor pickups. Collect the two Sliver of Meat placements and any crafting materials you want.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Check for Shabriri if Yura’s questline is active. Speak with him at the Site of Grace and complete his dialogue.

Short completion route

  1. 01
Leave or clear the remaining knights. There is no boss fog gate or final arena, so the location is complete once its items and quest dialogue have been handled.

Full exploration route

For a more thorough clear, begin at the Grace and circle the settlement clockwise. Clear the northern and central patrols first, then search the south-western spell location. Once the upper ruins are safe, approach the western edge and locate the cellar. Finally, sweep the outer walls for crafting materials and ordinary corpse pickups.

This route is slower but reduces the chance of missing the cellar. It also gives you better control over enemy aggro than entering the ruins from the middle.

Access progression

Zamor Ruins is in a late-game region. In a normal playthrough, access is gated by the journey to the Mountaintops of the Giants, which generally requires defeating Morgott and using the Rold Medallion.

The location itself has no internal key, seal or puzzle gate. Once you reach the Mountaintops, the ruins can be entered freely.

Shabriri and Yura

Shabriri’s appearance is progression-dependent. He is not a normal area NPC and should not be listed as a permanently available resident.

The relevant outcomes depend on how far Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s questline has advanced. If you are following Yura’s story, check the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace after reaching this area. If Shabriri is absent, continue checking the known stages of Yura’s quest rather than assuming the ruins are empty of story content.

Because Elden Ring questlines can change through major story events, players seeking Yura’s rewards should resolve his encounters before making irreversible progress in the late game.

New Game Plus

The ruins remain available in New Game Plus, with enemies and rewards reset according to the new cycle. The Bell Bearing and Zamor Ice Storm can be collected again in the new journey, but shop progression and inventory handling follow the rules of that playthrough.

---

The Zamor were an ancient warrior people associated with the cold northern mountains. Their long feud with the Fire Giants centred on the Flame Peak, and they fought alongside Queen Marika and Godfrey during the War Against the Giants. Their cold sorceries and frost-infused weaponry distinguish them from the fire-aligned forces of the giants.

The ruins therefore sit at an important historical boundary. They are physically close to the lands shaped by the Fire Giants, yet they are not a Fire Giant settlement. The collapsed buildings and hostile surviving knights imply the aftermath of an older conflict rather than a functioning town.

Related named entries

The Zamor armour and weapon entries are related to the culture but are not all obtained inside Zamor Ruins. Do not assume that killing the knights here will provide the complete set. The ruins’ fixed rewards are the spell and Bell Bearing listed above.

---

Is there a boss in Zamor Ruins?

No. Zamor Ruins has no named boss or dedicated boss arena in the base game. The Zamor Knights are dangerous ordinary enemies, but the location does not end with a fog-gate battle.

Where is the Site of Grace?

The Zamor Ruins Site of Grace is immediately north-west of the ruin complex. From there, travel south to enter the settlement.

Where is the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3]?

It is in a chest inside an underground cellar on the western side of the ruins. Look down from the western edge of the broken settlement to identify the lower entrance.

Where is Zamor Ice Storm?

It is in the south-western part of the ruins, near a stone archway or doorway. It is a fixed corpse pickup.

Can I get the Zamor armour set here?

Not as a complete fixed reward. The ruins are associated with the Zamor culture and contain Zamor Knights, but the main fixed treasures here are Zamor Ice Storm and Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].

Is Shabriri always at the ruins?

No. Shabriri appears only when the relevant stage of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s questline has been reached. He is a quest visitor rather than an ordinary permanent NPC.

Are the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave and Zamor Ruins the same place?

No. They are nearby but separate locations. The grave is an independent dungeon with its own entrance and contents.

What should I do first?

Activate the Grace, collect Zamor Ice Storm from the south-western ruins, then search the western cellar for the Bell Bearing. If you are following Yura’s questline, check for Shabriri before leaving.

---

The core location boundaries, Site of Grace, principal rewards, enemy identity and Shabriri’s association are consistently supported by the consulted location and walkthrough sources.

Enemy counts and minor material placements are less consistently presented between guides. Some databases enumerate nearby wildlife and list four main item pickups, while other location pages provide a shorter, more practical list of notable loot. For that reason, this guide identifies the fixed, verified major rewards and records the commonly listed minor pickups without claiming that the prose is an exhaustive game-file inventory.

The nearby Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave, Stargazers’ Ruins and the wider Mountaintops of the Giants have deliberately been kept outside the Zamor Ruins boundary, although they are listed as neighbouring connections where useful.
